Grzegorz Staszewski from Poland in a 4WD V8 Turbo
Corvette was declared the winner of this
2008 King of Europe Series. The final event was at the
Brustem AirBase Belgium.

This was a very shiny and hot week-end for this
final race of the "King of Europe
Dragster" trophy with an amazing line up of 50 cars
over 500bhp among 103 registered cars.
This week-end in Brustem was the
place to find all the street legal drag
Enthusiasts and we thank you again to follow our drag
series!

But there can
only be one king among all these drivers and the winner
will have to get the best mix between power, handling,
reliability and a bit of luck. Unfortunately for
some drivers, like Robert Christell, bad luck has hit
again, fastest car in King of Europe never made the win,
till next time may be!

After a full day of free practice on saturday
and a time schedule a bit modified due to some minor
incident on the track saturday, qualifications and
finals took place on Sunday.

In
the final Top16, we had no surprise to
see the big boys : Christell Racing and Marcin Blauth, 2 main contenders for the
crown. In the well known KOE drivers, we had also
Gregor Tus, Chris Skinner, Lee Denham, Sandor Vogelsinger
and Jens Eklund.

The first round made no surprise but once
again in the 1/4 final Robert Christell had some mechanical
problem stopping him from getting the crown and opening the
semi final to Morten Carlsen and his Chevrelot Chevelle.
First semi-final shew Morten Carlsen
against the surprizing VW Golf Turbo of Jurgen Beck,
even if Jurgen made a faster time on the 1/4 time, his
slow reaction time put Morten in Final. We saw
during this week-end some drivers faster on the 1/4 mile
but losing in the end due to slow reaction time, come on
guys get some training this winter!
In the other semi-final Jens Eklund,
already fastest 4WD, got the win over the other
superfast german VW Golf from Ole Ebner.
The "King of West" final was ready to
race between Jens Eklund and Morten Carlsen, when Morten
deep staged and put reverse gear while starter put the
start procedure on, giving easy victory to Jens Eklund.
For the last run, freshly crowned King
of West Jens Eklund will fight against Grzegorz Staszewski,
King of East. Even with a superfast launch, Jens
Eklund couldn't resist to the powerful Corvette,
Poland keep the crown home till 2009.
Congratulations to Grzegorz!!!
